A small cloth is held on the other hand from the one holding the canting to prevent the wax from dripping on to the frame.

- The stem of the canting is held with the right hand/left hand in a horizontal position to prevent any accidental spillage.

The spout does not touch the fabric but is held just above the area that is being worked on.

If wax is accidentally spilt on the cloth, we can attempt to remove it by sponging it with hot water. Then try lifting the wax off as much as we can.
